Bill S-211 came into force on January 1, 2024, catching thousands of businesses by surprise. This legislation requires businesses and government institutions to report on the measures they are taking to reduce the risk of forced labour and child labour in their operations and supply chains. Entities that meet the requirements must submit their first report to the Minister of Public Safety by May 31, 2024, and subsequent reports should be filed annually by May 31 in each subsequent year.
